Cherokee County Frie and Emergency Services responded to an accident this afternoon at approximately 4:30 on Georgia Highway 20 near the intersection of Eagles Nest Drive.
When emergency service personnel arrived on the scene, they found silver Kia Optima had collided with a gray Buick Enclave. The occupants of the Optima had the most serious injuries including a 41 year old male, who wasseated in the front passenger side of the car, complaining that he had no feeling from his waist down. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta by life-flight helicopter.
The car also had two children in the back seat. The 10 year old had a possible broken right ankle and the 5 year old girl was complaining of abdominal pain. The two children were transported by ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital. The 66 year old driver and and elderly woman in the back seat were taken to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta to be evaluated.
The driver of the Enclave, a 40 year old man, did not suffer any injuries.
Both lanes of Highway 20 were blocked and one lane was eventually opened at 5:15. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
