Structure Fire

At 12:37 hours, Cherokee Fire was dispatched to 255 Trenton Lane, Canton, Georgia on a reported structure fire.  Engine – 4 was first to arrive on scene and reported heavy fire involvement with some partial collapse of the home.  Upon further scene assessment by the Incident Commander, Captain Josh Wilkie of Engine-4,  the sole occupant was discovered injured in the back yard.  Reportedly, neighbors heard a loud explosion and afterwards, heard screams for help.  Two neighbors ran to the scene and discovered the occupant in the home screaming for help.  The two neighbors removed the occupant to the back yard.  Soon afterwards the home erupted in heavy fire.  The occupant was conscious and talking to emergency medical personnel scene.  The occupant was treated and transported to the hospital for additional treatment of injuries.  Evidence on scene indicates that there appears to have been some type of explosion in the home.  The scene is actively under investigation to determine the cause of fire.  Fire Crews and investigators remain on scene at this time continuing the investigation into the cause.  There were no injuries to firefighter personnel.
