Late Morning Fire Destroys Home in Southwest Cherokee County

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire this morning at approximately 11:15 at 2707 Valley Hill Drive, off Highway 92, going toward Acworth.

Cherokee County 911 received a call from the occupant of the home stating that his house was on fire. According to Battalion Chief, Kevin Lanier, “The occupant, his wife and a dog were able to get out without any injuries.” Cherokee County firefighters arrived 4 minutes later to find heavy flames coming from the 2 story house. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control, however, the house received extensive damage, especially to the center of the structure which was completely gutted

Both lanes on Valley Hill Drive were blocked until the fire operation was complete. Cherokee County Fire Investigators were dispatched to the scene to locate a cause. One of the occupants stated that they were leasing the home at the time
