Fire Damages Home on Apple Orchard Lane

October 15, 2020

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire this afternoon, at approximately 12:30, at 5051 Apple Orchard Lane off Toonigh Road.

Cherokee County 911 received a call from a neighbor who could see smoke coming from a home across the street and fire alarms were going off.  The neighbor spoke to the homeowner by phone who said that there was no one at home at that time.  Cherokee County firefighters arrived on the scene minutes later to report smoke coming from a two-story structure.  Firefighters were doing an interior attack when flames could be seen coming through the roof.  The fire was brought under control just shortly before 1:30.

A family of four was living inside the home, however, no injuries were reported. Both lanes of Apple Orchard Lane were blocked until the fire operation was complete.  According to Fire Investigator, Ashley Pope, the fire caused moderate damage throughout the house and the cause is currently under investigation.
