Family, friends and firefighters paid their final respects to Capt. Ann Segers who passed away on Monday, May 16,th at her home in Woodstock.
The funeral service was held today at Darby Funeral Home with Fire Chaplain, Dana McPherson, and Rev Scott Deal, officiating. Ann was an amazing lady who worked tirelessly to teach thousands of children about being safe around fire. She taught fire safety in schools throughout Cherokee County and assisted other fire departments in the state who were starting their own fire safety programs. Ann was always willing to help in any way she could, plus, she was always there when you needed someone to talk, too.
At the conclusion of her funeral, a long procession of public safety vehicles headed to the Georgia National Cemetery for Ann’s interment. Along the route, firefighters stopped their engines on overpasses and intersections and saluted Ann for her dedication and love of the fire service.
We will truly miss Ann, but her memory will live in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Safe Kids Cherokee County in her memory.
