Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire on Jennys Row in the southwestern area of unincorporated Cherokee County this morning at 10:49am. Firefighters from Cherokee County Stations 1 and 19, along with Woodstock Fire and Rescue Station 14, responded to the report of a basement fire at this residence. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from a one-story residential structure on a basement. Firefighters quickly entered the home with a hoseline to locate the fire and search for possible victims. The fire was located in a basement bedroom and was extinguished before it was able to extend to the rest of the home. The search of the home resulted in the rescue of the family’s dog and cat. The occupants of the home were able to escape without assistance and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
