Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and Cherokee Sheriff's Office responded to a residential structure fire on Fletcher Drive near Conns Creek Rd. on Nov. 19, 2022, at 10:40 p.m. Firefighters from stations 15, 2, 4, 21, 26, 8, and 9 responded to the incident. Engine 15 arrived first to the scene and found a residential structure with significant fire involvement. They quickly deployed hoselines to begin extinguishing the fire while ensuring all occupants were out of the home.
Due to the location of the closest fire hydrant, crews had to shuttle water to the scene using multiple fire engines. Fletcher Drive was shut down for the duration of the incident.
This structure served as a home to five residents. One of those residents reported injuries and was assessed by CCFES personnel but refused transport to the hospital.
The home was destroyed by the fire and fire crews remain on scene hitting hot spots as of this hour. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with resources. A CCFES Fire Investigator responded to the scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
