Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire on Cherokee Street near Dr. John T. Pettit Street at 10:44 a.m.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke and flames coming from the front of a one-story residential structure. They quickly deployed hoselines into the structure to extinguish the fire while searching the home for any trapped victims. The fire was extinguished, and all occupants were able to exit the home prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Cherokee Street was closed to vehicle traffic until approximately 12:30 p.m. due to fire apparatus and hoselines in the roadway. Canton Police Department assisted with traffic control.
All fire department units have cleared the scene. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
