Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire last night on Hospital Road near Waleska Road. The call was dispatched at 10:18 p.m. Engine 9 arrived first on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the front and sides of a one-story residential structure. They quickly deployed hoselines and searched for any possible victims. The fire was extinguished, and no victims were found inside the home.
Hospital Road was closed to through traffic until firefighters cleared the scene. Cherokee Sheriff’s Office aided with controlling and rerouting traffic.
The home received significant damage throughout. All fire department units have cleared the scene and the residence was turned back over to the owners.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
