Last week Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) hosted a Rope Rescue Technician class for the first time at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex. This week-long class builds on the foundations of the Introduction to Technical Rescue course and is taught and tested to National Professional Qualification standards.

Eleven firefighters attended the course and learned curriculum involving mechanical advantage raise systems, advanced multi-point anchors, stokes basket rescues, knot passing in loading systems, victim packaging, and slope operations for various degrees of terrain. Students and instructors worked together in classroom and practical evolutions to accomplish the goals of this course. CCFES is proud to have hosted this class which will improve the service delivery we provide to the citizens of Cherokee County.
