Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a residential structure fire this morning on Hogan Pond Lane near Ball Ground Road in unincorporated Cherokee County. The call was dispatched at 7:52 a.m. and units responded from fire stations 4, 5, 2, 21, 15, 3, and 8. Initial reports from neighbors were that the home was fully engulfed in fire.
Upon arrival firefighters found a single-story home with fire and smoke coming through the roof and other openings. Firefighters quickly deployed hoselines to extinguish the fire while performing a search of the home for victims. The fire was extinguished, and the search revealed that nobody was inside of the home.
Hogan Pond Lane was shut down during firefighting operations due to the fire hydrant being located across the road from the home.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
