Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a residential structure fire Sunday evening, May 28, on Valley Brook Drive. The call was dispatched at 7:42 p.m. and units responded from fire stations 24, 8, 7, 22, 20, and Woodstock Fire Rescue 14. Initial calls to E-911 reported that the back of the house was on fire and that there were cats trapped inside the home.
Engine 24 and Squad 24 arrived on scene to find a working structure fire. Firefighters quickly deployed hoselines to the interior and exterior of the home while performing a search for victims and the cats that were reported trapped. The fire was quickly extinguished, saving the home from extensive damage, and firefighters rescued three cats from inside the burning home. Firefighters overhauled the structured and removed smoke from the home.
No injuries were reported, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
