Cherokee County firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at Walden Pond Apartments (5473 Bells Ferry Rd. in unincorporated Cherokee County) at approximately 5:45 a.m. on the morning of June 29, 2023. Upon arrival firefighters found fire coming through the roof of building 300. Firefighters worked aggressively to complete a search of the structure and found that everybody was out safely. A second alarm was dispatched to the scene during the beginning stages of the incident and the fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The fire affected 10 apartment units, displacing 8 families.
