Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services
(CCFES) welcomed the public today at Fire Station 24 in the River Park Community. The
event took place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and attracted hundreds of citizens from the area.
Firefighters demonstrated some of their duties by deploying hoselines, raising ladders, and performing CPR. A friendly firefighter demonstration was also performed for the children in the audience to familiarize them with what a firefighter may look like in the event they encounter each other in a fire.
“We are so blessed in Cherokee County as far as our fire and emergency services go” said Fire Chief Eddie Robinson to a group of attendees. Robinson went on to say, “these firefighters work aggressively to accomplish our mission of preserving life and property, promoting public safety, and fostering economic growth.”
Firefighters distributed fire and life safety materials to attendees and educated the guests about ways to keep themselves and others safe before and during emergencies. Members of CCFES played games such as ring toss and corn hole with the attendees while passing out popcorn and drinks.
“We’re excited to welcome our community into their local firehouse” said Captain Matt
Richter, Station Commander of Station 24. Richter went on to say, “the connection between firefighters and their community is a long-standing bond that’s essential to the success of public safety.”
Tours of the fire station and apparatus were given while firefighters educated the guests about the facilities and equipment present.
Station 24, located at 1000 River Park Blvd. in Woodstock, houses Fire Engine 24, Squad 24, and Med-Con 1.
