Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) had
the honor of recognizing five members of the agency on Thursday night at American Legion Post 45. The American Legion hosted their annual ceremony for Community Service Awards for First Responders within Cherokee County. Post 45 is in Canton, GA and serves veterans and the
community.
First Responders along with their families and friends were invited to fellowship and enjoy a meal provided by the post while celebrating the honorees.
Tonight’s honorees from CCFES were selected for their actions while going above and beyond for the communities we serve.
Fire Apparatus Operator (FAO) Ryan Barker and Firefighter Noah Tweedy were presented with the EMS Lifesaver Award for providing excellent care to a patient in cardiac arrest. The patient
was located without a pulse and not breathing on their own. These gentlemen worked aggressively to revive the patient and thanks to their actions the patient made a full recovery.
Lieutenant Benjy Pearson, Sergeant Zach Bennett, and FAO Troy Kizer were presented with a Unit Citation for going above and beyond the call of duty on an incident which resulted in them locating lethal levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO) within a residence which put the homeowner, and neighbors in imminent danger.
CCFES is proud of the work that all its members accomplish every day, and we were excited to honor these firefighters at the American Legion on Thursday night.
