Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) and City of Woodstock Fire & Rescue (WFR) responded to a residential structure fire Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:03 a.m. The fire occurred on Old Highway 92 near Acworth in unincorporated southwest Cherokee County.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find flames and smoke coming from the residence. Access to and inside of the home was limited and firefighting operations lasted for hours.
Old Highway 92 was closed for a majority of the incident and one lane of Highway 92 towards Acworth was closed for a short period of time at the beginning of the incident. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
