Firefighters Recognized for Lifesaving Efforts

L to R: Deputy Chief Shane West, FAO Michael Turberville, Sgt. Adam Elrod, FAO Chase Scoggins, FAO Jacob Christian, FAO Heath Weekly, Lt. Randy Fifield, FAO Gerald Wright

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) had the honor of recognizing seven members of the agency on Monday night at the Canton Moose Family Center during the annual Moose Lodge Emergency Services Awards Banquet.

First Responders along with their families and friends were invited to fellowship and enjoy a meal provided by the lodge while celebrating the honorees. This year’s honorees from CCFES were selected for their outstanding efforts and dedication to their community.

Those receiving recognition were FAO Heath Weekly, FAO Jacob Christian, FAO Michael Turberville, Sgt. Adam Elrod, FAO Chase Scoggins, Lt. Randy Fifield, and FAO Gerald Wright.

Last year, these firefighters responded to the reports of a person in cardiac arrest. Thanks to a family member beginning CPR, followed by the outstanding response, decisions, and actions of these firefighters, the patient was resuscitated and alert by the time the patient was transferred to the hospital.

CCFES is proud of the work that all its members accomplish every day, and we were excited to honor these firefighters at the Moose Lodge on Monday night.
