On the morning of 2 November 2023, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a commercial structure fire at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays & Grill. Firefighters were dispatched at 4:17 AM to the reports of a possible fire at this location. Upon arrival firefighters found most of the building already on the ground with fire extending to nearby golf carts, as well as many spot fires in the woods surrounding the property. Cherokee fire requested assistance from Pickens County Fire and Georgia Forestry. Both agencies responded to assist with the mitigation of this incident. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
