Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a commercial vehicle fire this morning around 5:15 a.m. on Interstate 75 northbound, just before Highway 92.
Two fire engines and a ladder truck responded from fire stations 1 and 19. Engine 1 arrived on-scene to find a tractor trailer on fire with smoke and flames coming from the tractor and extending to the rear of the vehicle. Firefighters deployed two hose lines to extinguish the fire while ensuring the driver of the vehicle was unharmed. One lane of traffic remained open while the other lanes were blocked to ensure safety of the public and the firefighters working to extinguish the fire.
The fire was extinguished with approximately 2,000 gallons of water and all fire units have cleared the scene. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
