Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a residential structure fire Sunday evening just after 6:00 p.m. The fire was located on Brooksdale Drive in the southern portion on unincorporated Cherokee County. Units from CCFES Fire Stations 1, 20, 19, 24, and 8 responded to the incident along with automatic aide provided by Woodstock Fire & Rescue Station 14.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found a large home heavily involved in fire. Firefighters established an offensive strategy and deployed multiple hose lines into the home to begin extinguishing the fire while searching the home for victims. The search was completed and confirmed that no occupants remained in the structure. The fire was extinguished, and firefighters worked to salvage belongings in the home.
No residents were in the home at the time of the fire and several of the family’s pets were removed from the home and survived. Unfortunately, three cats perished in the home as a result of the incident.
