Cherokee Firefighters Recognized at Regional EMS Awards Banquet

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) achieved remarkable recognition at the 2024 Northwest Georgia - Region 1 EMS Awards Banquet held in Jasper, GA on March 14, 2024. The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of emergency medical professionals who go above and beyond to serve their communities.

EMT of the Year Award: Jonathan Laurich

Fire Apparatus Operator and Advanced EMT Jonathan Laurich received the prestigious William “Bill” Peace EMT of the Year Award. This esteemed accolade is presented to an EMT who has made significant impacts in the field of EMS at the community, regional, and/or state level. Jonathan’s dedication extends far beyond the call of duty, through exceptional patient care and mentoring his peers.

Virginia D. Hamilton Special Achievement Award: Kevin Johnson

EMS Instructor Kevin Johnson was honored with the Virginia D. Hamilton Special Achievement Award. This distinguished award recognizes individuals or organizations for their exceptional dedication to enhancing the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care. Named in honor of Dr. Virginia D. Hamilton, the recipient exemplifies high ideals, impeccable character, and unwavering commitment to the field of EMS.

CCFES continues to set a standard of excellence in emergency medical services, and these awards highlight the exceptional efforts of its dedicated professionals. Congratulations to Jonathan Laurich and Kevin Johnson for their outstanding contributions!
