Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Responds to Residential Structure Fire

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and Woodstock Fire Department are on-scene of a residential structure fire in a townhome on Tiller Way in unincorporated southwest Cherokee County.

Units were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. and arrived on-scene at 10:43 a.m. to find smoke on multiple floors of the home including the attic. Crews made a quick and aggressive search for life while simultaneously locating and attacking the fire. Regrettably, two cats were discovered inside the residence. Despite resuscitation efforts by firefighters, both cats succumbed to their injuries. Fortunately, no civilian injuries were reported as a result of the fire. One firefighter was injured during the incident. The firefighter is stable and is being evaluated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire has been extinguished and firefighters remain on-scene cooling hot spots and salvaging property.

Cherokee County Fire Investigators are on-scene working to determine the cause and origin on the fire.
