Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services had the privilege of joining forces with the Sandy Springs Fire Department on Tuesday, December 17, to bring holiday cheer to the children, families, and staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Scottish Rite Hospital. The annual event, which has become a cherished tradition, provides a festive opportunity to bring joy, laughter, and gifts to the brave young patients at the hospital during the holiday season.
Firefighters from both departments took part in the event, which began with a thrilling display as firefighters, superheroes, and Sparky rappelled down the side of the hospital, waving to patients from the windows. Following the excitement, the firefighters delivered toys and treats, spent quality time with the children and their families, and helped spread holiday cheer throughout the hospital. This annual event is one that our team eagerly anticipates, as the smiles on the children's faces serve as a heartwarming reminder of how these simple yet meaningful moments can make a lasting impact.
“We are incredibly honored to be part of such a special occasion each year,” said Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Fire Chief Eddie Robinson. “For our team, it’s an opportunity to give back to the community in a very personal way, and to brighten the days of these resilient young patients. The joy we bring them is matched by the joy it brings to us as first responders.”
This event is part of a broader effort by both fire departments to engage in community outreach, building strong relationships with local organizations and fostering goodwill in the neighborhoods we serve.
