Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a commercial structure fire Friday at approximately 4:00 PM at Super Sod, located on Cumming Highway in the Buffington community, east of Canton.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke coming from the building and worked quickly and aggressively to locate the source of the fire, extinguish the flames, and ensure no victims were inside the structure.
The fire was fully extinguished, and no injuries were reported among civilians or responders. Firefighters remain on scene as of 6:15 PM to conduct salvage and overhaul operations.
At this time, traffic on Cumming Highway remains unaffected by the incident, and no road closures are in place.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have been caused by wind blowing a metal roof section into contact with a power line.
