Just before 8:30 p.m. this evening, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Breckenridge Drive, off New Light Road in the Holly Springs area.
Upon arrival, fire crews encountered smoke coming from the two-story detached garage. Firefighters quickly deployed handlines and made entry into the building, working in challenging frigid temperatures. Their quick actions allowed them to aggressively fight the fire while conducting a search of the structure for potential victims.
The search revealed the building to be clear of any occupants. Firefighters rapidly located the source of the fire and extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services reminds all residents of the importance of maintaining working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and having an emergency escape plan for all structures.
