Safety Town Returns This Summer!

Safe Kids Cherokee County and Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services are excited to announce the return of Safety Town 2025, a fun and educational program designed to teach young children how to stay safe. This year’s event will take place from Monday, June 9th to Friday, June 13th at Bascomb Elementary School.

Safety Town is open to all Cherokee County students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2025. There will be two convenient sessions available:

  • AM Session: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • PM Session: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Each day, students will engage in interactive lessons on a wide variety of safety topics, such as water safety, school bus safety, and traffic safety, while enjoying hands-on activities. Partners from organizations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Marshal's Office, Cherokee County School District Police, Cherokee County School District Bus Transportation, and the Cherokee County Animal Shelter will be present to teach valuable safety lessons and provide expert guidance.

In addition to safety lessons, children will create fun crafts, play games, and have the opportunity to ride through a miniature town to practice traffic safety, all while having a great time. This program combines education with fun, ensuring children learn essential safety skills in an engaging environment.

Teen Volunteers Needed
Teens looking to earn community service hours can register to volunteer as counselors during the program. Volunteer registration is now open, and interested teens are encouraged to apply through the Safe Kids Cherokee County website.
