Dalton, GA — The Region 1 EMS Awards Banquet held Thursday night in Dalton, Georgia, recognized the outstanding contributions of emergency medical professionals across the region. Among the distinguished honorees was Randy Pierson, the Paramedic Program Director for Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES), who was presented with the prestigious Dr. Paul Nassour Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Dr. Paul Nassour Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated excellence throughout their careers in emergency medical services (EMS). Pierson was honored for his long career of selfless dedication to EMS and his significant impact on CCFES over the past decade. He has played a crucial role in shaping the future of emergency medical services by making a lasting difference in the lives of both his colleagues and the community.

His impact extends far beyond the department, as he has helped raise the standards for EMS providers in the region.
The Region 1 EMS community, along with providers throughout the area, expressed their admiration for Pierson’s lifetime of service and contributions to education and EMS as a whole.
Dr. Paul Nassour, after whom the award is named, was one of the founding fathers of EMS in Region 1. He served as the medical director for various EMS, fire, and police agencies, including Bartow County EMS and Hutcheson Medical Center EMS. Dr. Nassour also held the position of Region 1 Office of EMS & Trauma Medical Director and was a beloved mentor, educator, and advocate for EMS personnel. He was known for his compassionate care, exceptional skill, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of public safety personnel and their families. Dr. Nassour passed away in March 2015, and his legacy lives on through this award, which honors his contributions to the EMS community.
