Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) is proud to announce the retirement of Sergeant Dwayne Barbee after 19 years of exceptional service to the citizens of Cherokee County. Sergeant Barbee was honored this morning with a breakfast at Fire Station 24, where he was celebrated for his remarkable career.
During the event, Sergeant Barbee was presented with a commemorative helmet plaque as a token of appreciation for his years of service. This plaque serves as a lasting tribute to his contributions to the department and the community he served with dedication, integrity, and compassion.
“It’s an honor to recognize Sergeant Barbee today for his 19 years of service,” said Deputy Chief Kevin Lanier. “Dwayne has been a dedicated member of our department. His leadership and expertise will be greatly missed.”
Barbee’s farewell concluded with his final ride home aboard MedCon 1, the very medical control unit where he served the latter portion of his career. The vehicle had been a familiar part of his daily routine, and as he departed, it became a symbol of the personal and professional dedication he gave to the community over the years.
The members of CCFES wish Sgt. Barbee a long and healthy retirement!
