CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA – On Monday, April 28, 2025, at 6:20 p.m., Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded with 50 firefighters to a 3-Alarm structure fire in the area of Trecastle Square off Bells Ferry Road, near the Bridgemill community.
The fire occurred in an 8-unit townhome building. Seven of the units were newly constructed and unoccupied. One unit was occupied at the time of the fire. One resident from the occupied unit was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During fireground operations, two firefighters were treated for heat-related issues. One firefighter required transport to the hospital in stable condition, while the second was treated on scene and released.
Four of the eight townhome units sustained damage as a result of the fire.
Initial 911 calls also reported a possible structure fire on Birchwood Pass, which is in close proximity to Trecastle Square. Fire crews responded to that location but confirmed upon arrival that no structures on Birchwood Pass were involved. Those resources were quickly redirected to assist with the active incident.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was likely caused by a gas grill.
*Initial press release indicated an incident time of 5:20 p.m. however that time was incorrect.
