Cherokee County Board of Commissioners Honors EMS Providers with Proclamation for EMS Week

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services is proud to announce that the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has officially recognized May 18–24, 2025, as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week with the presentation of a formal proclamation.

The proclamation, presented during the May 20th commission meeting, acknowledges the vital role of emergency medical services in our community and honors the skilled professionals who provide lifesaving care around the clock. From paramedics and EMTs to dispatchers, firefighters, nurses, and other frontline providers, the proclamation highlights the dedication, training, and critical care delivered by our EMS teams.

This year marks the 51st anniversary of EMS Week, with the national theme, “EMS: We Care. For Everyone.” This theme reflects the broad and inclusive role EMS professionals play—not only in emergency response but also in preventative medicine, follow-up care, and bridging gaps in healthcare access.

“The support and recognition from the Board of Commissioners mean a great deal to our personnel,” said Eddie Robinson, Fire Chief of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services. “EMS Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the tireless efforts of our providers and to thank them for their commitment to serving the public, day and night.”

Community members are encouraged to take time this week to recognize the work of emergency responders and to show appreciation for the vital service they provide.
