Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) proudly announces the retirement of two long-serving and highly respected members of the department: Captain Angela Keel and Sergeant Christopher Brauda. Collectively, the two have dedicated nearly four decades of exemplary service to the citizens of Cherokee County.

Captain Angela Keel retires after 19 years of commitment to the department. She began her career with CCFES in January 2006 and steadily rose through the ranks to become Captain. Known for her leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication, Captain Keel has left a mark on the department and those she worked alongside. On her final day, family, friends, and colleagues gathered at Station 12 to celebrate her remarkable career. Fire Chief Eddie Robinson presented Captain Keel with a commemorative helmet plaque in recognition of her years of service and commitment to excellence.

Sergeant Christopher Brauda is retiring after 20 years of dedicated service, having begun his career with CCFES in 2005. Rising quickly through the ranks, he earned the title of Sergeant and served for many years as a valued member of the CCFES Honor Guard. A farewell celebration was held in his honor, where Chief Robinson also presented him with a commemorative helmet plaque. In a symbolic and heartfelt gesture, Sergeant Brauda took a final ride home aboard Engine 3, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter in his life and career.

“Captain Keel and Sergeant Brauda exemplify the values and spirit of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services,” said Chief Robinson. “Their dedication, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on our department and our community. We are grateful for their contributions and wish them both the very best in their well-earned retirement.”

CCFES invites the community to join in expressing appreciation for Captain Keel and Sergeant Brauda and to celebrate their decades of outstanding service.
