Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) is proud to announce the addition of its 18th emergency ambulance, with Med 30 officially going in-service at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the department’s mission to provide exceptional emergency medical care to residents and visitors across the county.

For over two decades, CCFES has delivered high-quality Emergency Medical Transport throughout Cherokee County and its cities.

The launch of Med 30 reflects the department’s continued efforts to enhance response capabilities in the face of increasing demand.

Currently operating out of Fire Station 1 on Bells Ferry Road in the Oak Grove area, Med 30 will relocate to its permanent home at the new Station 30, located near East Cherokee Drive and Mill Creek Road in the Holly Springs area, upon its opening in June 2025.

Med 30 is one of 16 ambulances in the county that are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The department also operates 2 additional peak-hour units that are strategically deployed during the busiest times of the week to provide added coverage during periods of high call volume. This system helps ensure timely medical response across all areas of the county.

In a first for the department, Med 30 is staffed by Paramedics-Only (PMOs) — personnel who are highly trained paramedics but not cross-trained as firefighters. This staffing approach is designed to help better manage the increasing number of EMS calls.

“We are committed to evolving alongside the needs of our community,” said Eddie Robinson, Fire Chief of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services. “The deployment of Med 30, and its staffing with PMOs, is a strategic step in ensuring we can continue delivering prompt and professional medical care when our citizens need it most.”

In Fiscal Year 2024, more than 70% of all calls handled by CCFES were EMS-related — a statistic that mirrors national trends in the fire service. The addition of Med 30 enhances the department’s ability to provide high-level care efficiently and reliably.
