Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a structure fire early this morning on Wheeler Drive near Hunt Road in the southwestern part of the county.
At approximately 8:18 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to reports of a garage and nearby boat fully engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire involvement in a detached garage, with the blaze spreading to the rear of a boat on the property.
Firefighters acted quickly, conducting a search of the structure and bringing the fire under control. Their quick response successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties.
No injuries were reported among civilians or emergency personnel. Sadly, two chickens on the property perished in the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
CCFES commends the responding crews for their rapid and effective actions, which limited property damage and ensured the safety of area residents.
