It is with profound sadness that Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) announces the passing of retired Sergeant Chris King, who died Friday following a courageous battle with cancer.
Sergeant King dedicated his life to the service of others—as a firefighter, a United States Marine, a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, and a proud brother in the fire service. Throughout his career, he exemplified strength, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the community he loved.
Though retired, Sgt. King’s impact endures through the lives he saved, the people he mentored, and the legacy of service he leaves behind. He was not only a protector of our community, but a symbol of resilience and dedication.
In honor of Sgt. King's memory and service, all CCFES stations and support facilities will lower flags to half-staff.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, his fire service brothers and sisters, and all who knew and loved him. We ask the community to join us in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Brother. We’ll take it from here.
