Firefighters Battle Early Morning Commercial Structure Fire in Downtown Ball Ground.

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) responded to a commercial structure fire early Sunday morning in the historic downtown area of Ball Ground.

Shortly after 3:30 AM on Sunday, August 10, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Gilmer Ferry Road. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and visible flames coming through the roof of a vacant commercial building.

Firefighters acted quickly, deploying multiple hose lines and utilizing elevated master streams from two ladder trucks to gain control of the blaze. The fire was brought under control after a coordinated and aggressive suppression effort by CCFES personnel.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by CCFES.

CCFES would like to thank the Ball Ground Police Department, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, and other supporting agencies for their assistance in managing the scene and traffic control.
