HOLLY SPRINGS, Ga. — Surrounded by family, fellow firefighters and friends, Lt. Dave Burnaugh was honored Wednesday during a retirement ceremony at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex.

Burnaugh retired from Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services after nearly two decades of dedicated service and leadership, leaving behind a lasting legacy and a profound impact on the department and the community.

Burnaugh began his fire service career in 2007. Over the years, he mentored countless firefighters, many of whom credit their personal and professional growth and success to his steady leadership and guidance.

The retirement ceremony included emotional tributes and shared memories from colleagues and loved ones. As a token of appreciation, Burnaugh was presented with a commemorative plaque for his fire helmet, a traditional symbol of respect in the fire service.

As he enters retirement, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services salutes Burnaugh’s extraordinary career and extends its deepest gratitude for his years of sacrifice, courage and commitment to public safety.
