Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) joined fire service personnel from across the state on Thursday, October 2, at the 2025 Georgia Fire Service Memorial Service held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, GA. The memorial was part of the annual Georgia Fire Service Conference, which brings together fire professionals to share in remembrance, learning, and unity.
Fire Chief Eddie Robinson and Deputy Chief Mark Orr had the honor of laying a candle in memory of two dedicated members of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services who passed away in the last year: Fire Apparatus Operator Nevin O’Hearn and Sergeant Chris King. Both individuals served the citizens of Cherokee County with unwavering commitment, professionalism, and heart.
In addition to honoring their fallen colleagues, members of CCFES paid tribute to all Georgia fire service members who have lost their lives over the past year.
“This memorial is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve,” said Chief Eddie Robinson. “We are humbled to stand among fellow departments across Georgia to honor the legacy of these men and women. We will carry their memory with us always.”
The annual memorial service provides an opportunity for families, firefighters, and friends to reflect on the service and sacrifice of fire service members and to ensure their contributions are never forgotten.
