Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Mourns the Passing of Retired Lieutenant Dave Burnaugh

It is with profound sadness that Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services announces the passing of Retired Lieutenant Dave Burnaugh, who recently lost his courageous battle with cancer.

Lt. Burnaugh faithfully served the citizens of Cherokee County and the fire service community for many years. Known for his faith, his deep love for his family, and his steadfast commitment to serving others, Dave embodied the highest ideals of the fire service. He led by example, demonstrating humility, professionalism, and compassion in every aspect of his life and career.

A devoted husband, father, friend, and firefighter, Lt. Burnaugh’s impact on those who served beside him, as well as the community he protected, will be felt for generations. His legacy is one of service, integrity, and heart.

The Burnaugh family has shared that funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Woodstock City Church, located at 150 Ridgewalk Parkway, Woodstock, Georgia, 30188.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cherokee Fire Foundation at www.cherokeefirefoundation.org.

We ask the community to join us in keeping the Burnaugh family in their thoughts and prayers as we honor the life and service of a truly remarkable man.
