Safety Town 2026 Returns to Cherokee County This June

Safe Kids Cherokee County and Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services are excited to announce the return of Safety Town 2026, a fun and educational program designed to teach young children essential safety skills. The weeklong event will be held Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12 at Bascomb Elementary School located at 1335 Wyngate Pkwy in Woodstock.

Safety Town is open to all Cherokee County students entering kindergarten in fall 2026. Registration will be available from March 1 through May 2. The cost is $125 per student, and daily sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.

Throughout the week, students will participate in engaging, hands-on lessons covering important topics such as water safety, school bus safety, and traffic safety. Community partners will join instructors to provide expert guidance and interactive demonstrations, including representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Marshal's Office, Cherokee County School District Police, Cherokee County School District Bus Transportation, and the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.

In addition to safety instruction, children will enjoy crafts, games, and the opportunity to ride through a miniature town to practice traffic safety skills in a safe, supervised environment. Safety Town combines education and fun to ensure participants gain confidence and knowledge that will help keep them safe throughout the year.

Teens seeking community service hours are encouraged to register as volunteer counselors. Volunteer registration is now open through the Safe Kids Cherokee County website.
