Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire Thursday evening on Easy Goer Ct. at approximately 8:20 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active fire in the garage that had extended into the second floor and attic of the home.
The family was able to safely evacuate prior to firefighters’ arrival, and no injuries were reported.
Fire crews immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack and primary search of the residence. Thanks to the swift actions of personnel, the fire was quickly brought under control, limiting damage and preventing further spread throughout the home.
Units from Station 23 led the coordinated response, making a strong initial push that proved critical in stopping the fire’s progression. Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the structure to ensure no occupants remained inside.
A key factor in the successful outcome was staffing. The first two engine companies on scene were staffed with four firefighters each, allowing crews to effectively and simultaneously perform fire attack, search, and support operations during the critical early moments of the incident.
The fire remains under investigation but preliminary findings indicate that the cause was accidental.
