Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services has deployed personnel and equipment to South Georgia to assist with ongoing wildfire suppression efforts as part of a statewide mutual aid response.
The deployment was made through a Georgia Mutual Aid Group (GMAG) request, which allows agencies across the state to provide coordinated assistance during large-scale emergencies.
A crew consisting of four personnel, along with an engine, departed Cherokee County Sunday afternoon and is assigned to support operations in the affected region, where multiple wildfires have burned tens of thousands of acres and forced evacuations.
“These deployments are a critical part of our mission to serve not only our community but also our neighbors across Georgia,” said Fire Chief Eddie Robinson. “We are proud to support our fellow responders and the residents impacted by these devastating fires.”
Personnel will assist with various firefighting needs and support operations alongside local, state, and federal partners.
Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services remains fully staffed to respond to emergencies within the county during this deployment.
