Members from Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) recently attended the Georgia Fire Service Conference, a five-day event hosted by the Georgia State Firefighters Association and Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs. This year’s conference was held in Augusta, Georgia, and hosted by the Augusta Fire Department.
The conference provides an opportunity for members of fire departments from across the state to come together to learn and train on all aspects of the fire service profession. In addition to classroom sessions, the conference also includes a hands-on portion. During these drills, firefighters have the opportunity to compete in friendly team-building competitions where their skills are put to the test.
Cherokee Fire is proud to have brought home several awards!
Cherokee’s own Beau Witcher earned 1st place in the Rapid Dress Competition.
The CCFES Competition Team placed 2nd overall, with the following finishes:
🏆 1st Place – Hose and Ladder Drill
🥈 2nd Place – Serpentine Barrel Roll
🥉 3rd Place – 1-2 Tight Squeeze Drill
Team members included Russell Springer, Beau Witcher, Matthew Hutcherson, Lance Tucker, Nick Rodriguez, Kevin Hamilton, and Ric Mitchell.
