Members of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services joined firefighters and first responders from across Georgia and abroad at Truist Park for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, organized by the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund Georgia.
The event honors the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the thousands of other first responders and civilians who lost their lives that day. Participants climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center Towers while carrying the name of a fallen firefighter, helping ensure the sacrifices made on 9/11 are never forgotten.
For Cherokee County firefighters, the stair climb is more than a physical challenge. It is an opportunity to remember the men and women who responded to an unimaginable tragedy, honor their families, and reaffirm the commitment firefighters make to serve their communities.
The Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund Georgia hosts the memorial stair climb as part of its mission to support firefighters and their families while honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The event brings together members of the fire service and the community in remembrance, solidarity, and unity.
Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services is proud to stand alongside firefighters throughout Georgia and abroad to honoring those that gave it all and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service displayed on Sept. 11, 2001.
