Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services held a graduation ceremony for 33 paramedic students Wednesday night, marking the completion of the 14-month accredited in‑house paramedic training program.
The class, which began 14 months ago, builds on the foundation of Advanced EMT certification and prepares students to deliver advanced life‑support care in the field. Throughout the program, students trained in a range of critical skills, including intubation, EKG interpretation, and medication administration.
Members of the training staff praised the graduates for their commitment to public service and their perseverance through a rigorous academic and clinical schedule.
“The learning isn't over; it is just beginning. Be kind to your patients, be kind to yourself. We are so proud of the work you have put into this achievement," Fire Chief Kevin Lanier said while addressing the students.
Every CCFES ambulance is staffed with at least one paramedic per shift as well as many fire engines throughout the county. This level of care ensures rapid and effective response to medical emergencies.
CCFES is enormously proud of the graduates of the Paramedic Program as well as the training staff that make it all come together.
