GILMER COUNTY, GA - Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services proudly congratulates former Fire Chief Eddie Robinson on receiving the Gary McGhee Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northwest Georgia Fire Chiefs Association today in Gilmer County.
The award recognizes a career dedicated to the fire service and honors individuals whose leadership, service, and contributions have made a lasting impact on their department, their community, and the fire service throughout Northwest Georgia.
Chief Robinson’s career with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services began in January 1999. Over the course of nearly three decades of service, he served in numerous roles and steadily advanced through the organization before being appointed Fire Chief in March 2022.
As Fire Chief, Robinson led Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services through a period of significant growth and continued modernization, while remaining committed to the department’s core values of Courage, Commitment, and Integrity. His leadership was marked by a strong emphasis on the people of the organization and the communities they serve.
“Chief Robinson’s impact on Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services extends far beyond the years he served as Fire Chief,” said Fire Chief Kevin Lanier. “He invested his career in our people, our organization, and our community. We are proud to see his dedication recognized by his peers across Northwest Georgia, and we are honored to call him one of our own.”
The Gary McGhee Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting recognition of a career defined by service, leadership, and a commitment to the fire service. Chief Robinson’s influence will continue to be felt throughout Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and the many firefighters and communities he has served.
