Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Service’s own Division Director of EMS Chad Huff was honored by the First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF) with the national Leadership Award, sponsored by T-Mobile. The award was presented during the Roll Call of Heroes ceremony held in Times Square on Wednesday, October 28, in recognition of National First Responders Day.

Director Huff received this national recognition for his leadership in launching Cherokee County’s prehospital blood administration program. This groundbreaking initiative, now implemented countywide, required the development and coordination of clinical protocols, specialized training, logistics systems, and essential partnerships throughout the region’s healthcare community. His vision and dedication resulted in a lifesaving program that provides first responders with the ability to administer blood products in the field, significantly improving survival outcomes for trauma patients before they arrive at the hospital.

“Director Huff’s leadership continues to elevate the standard of emergency medical care in Cherokee County. His vision for prehospital blood administration has already saved lives and will continue to shape the future of EMS in our region and beyond. We are incredibly proud to see his dedication recognized on a national stage.”

The Roll Call of Heroes ceremony, hosted for the second consecutive year by Jon Stewart, brought together first responder families, agency leaders, elected officials, and supporters from across the country to recognize extraordinary service and sacrifice. The event was free and open to the public.

The First Responders Children’s Foundation is the only national nonprofit solely dedicated to supporting the children and families of law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, correctional officers, and 911 dispatchers. Through mental health services, scholarships, financial assistance, and other community‑centered programs, FRCF continues to uplift and honor the families of those who serve.
