Woman Hits Husband's Car, Becomes Entrapped in Vehicle

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 9:30 this morning at the intersection of Ball Ground Highway and Hightower Road. 

Emergency service personnel arrived on scene to find a Toyota Camry had run into the back of a Honda van. People on the scene told 911 that the driver in the Camry, a 75 year old woman, was entrapped in the vehicle. Bystanders were able to open the door, but the woman was unable to get out of the vehicle. According to reports, the woman struck the van in front of her that was being driven by her 79 year old husband. Her vehicle left the roadway and ended up near a construction area where an 8-10 foot hole had been dug. Fortunately the car stopped before going into the hole.

The woman was removed and placed in an ambulance and was taken to North Fulton Hospital. She was conscious and alert, but had a bone extruding from her right ankle. Her husband reported no injuries.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
