Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a call this morning, just shortly before 8 o’clock, regarding a car that hit a tree on Prominence Point Parkway near the Lantana Trail intersection.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a white KIA SUV had left the highway, traveled up the median and struck a tree. The tree was uprooted and knocked about 40 feet and ended up in the roadway blocking traffic.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36 year old white female, was conscious and alert and complaining of neck pain. She was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital to be evaluated.

No other injuries were reported, but traffic had to be rerouted until the tree was removed. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Canton Police Department.
