Fire on Bishop Road Damages Home

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a structure fire call on Tuesday morning, at approximately 845, at 789 Bishop Road, near the Cherokee County Airport.

Cherokee County 911 received a call from a resident who stated someone had stopped by and told him a house was on fire. Units arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the back on the one-story structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before any major damage could occur. Cherokee County Battalion Chief, Mark Orr, stated that it appeared that someone was living in the house and the fire had started in the kitchen area.

No injuries were reported and both lanes of Bishop Road were blocked to traffic until the operation was complete. One lane of Bishop Road was opened around 10:30. Cherokee County Fire Investigators returned to the scene this morning to continue their investigation into a cause.
